• Get an estimate: Start with their online quote form or call. For local moves you’ll get an hourly estimate; for packing they’ll price by boxes/materials. Expect a travel fee (flat or time-based) alongside the crew’s hourly rate – totally standard in Chicago.
• Reserve a slot: Mornings book fastest. If you take an afternoon window, they’ll give a broad arrival range because it depends on how the morning job wraps. If your building needs a COI, let the office know early.
• Support channels: Phone and email both work; I’ve found their coordinators responsive during business hours (and that matches the vibe of their site’s “hospitality first” stance).

• On the day: Crew does a walkthrough, pads and wraps big items, protects walls/elevators as needed, then loads in a tight, safe sequence. Chicago traffic can stretch timelines – remember, with hourly billing you’re on the clock during drive time.
• Packing & handling: Furniture gets blankets and shrink wrap; boxes are staged for balanced loading. This is bread-and-butter for them; I’ve seen fewer “mystery scratches” versus budget crews.
• Delays, cancellations, damages: They offer valuation coverage on top of the legally-required basic liability. The paid option is a declared value model – think “repair or replace at depreciated value” – typically quoted at about $100 per $5,000 of coverage. Read the fine print and decide what fits your risk tolerance.

Quick note on regulations & “change orders.” For long-distance/brokered moves, federal rules require written estimates; if scope changes before loading, the mover must issue a new estimate in writing.

Don’t accept on-the-fly price hikes without paperwork. For local hourly jobs, bigger scope = more hours, but I still ask the lead to note any change in writing (text/email) so there’s a record.

For local Chicago moves, yes. This is a mover I’ve hired for my own family because they combine hustle with professionalism. The office team manages city realities (permits, docks, long carries). The crews I’ve worked with were efficient and took care of the details that prevent damage.

A couple caveats: you’re paying hourly, so book a morning slot if timing is critical, and get building logistics locked early.

Also, do your due diligence on valuation coverage (not the same as third-party insurance) and read through BBB complaints – rare issues tend to cluster around expectations and timing. If you want a fixed price down to the penny, consider a flat-rate competitor; otherwise I’d book Move-Tastic again tomorrow.

• New City Moving – Big fleet, long-distance options, strong review footprint; a solid “we need lots of trucks and people” choice.
• FlatRate Moving – If you’re allergic to hourly pricing, their guaranteed flat price contracts are worth getting a quote from for comparison.

I always cross-check multiple sources. For Move-Tastic, the overall pattern is strongly positive (Birdeye), with a small number of formal complaints on BBB that are worth reading for context.

That balance – lots of praise, a few issues to learn from – is normal for an established mover handling thousands of jobs. If you want even more color, Chicago community forums often share current hourly totals and crew experiences you can benchmark against your quote.
